A Bookworm’s Mistake

I am a confessed bookworm. Reading is quite a passion…perhaps even an addiction for me. I love books. I love every kind of book. Print books, e-books, PDF books, Kindle, iBooks, audiobooks, you name it.

I love knowledge and information. I know, as much as any C Level executive or business entrepreneur, male or female, that “leaders are readers” and “leaders are learners.” And as a born (and self-made) marketer and mompreneur, I have bought hundreds of informational products, attended hundreds of workshops and seminars, and have invested countless hours in training.

You’re probably thinking “maaaan! what a nerd” and that makes me proud. LOL The unfortunate truth, though, is that the very thing that makes you proud can, at times, be the very thing that makes you – or keeps you – poor.

And I undertand if you think I’m out of my mind. I think it was Jim Rohn who said that Rich people have small TVs and big libraries, and poor people have small libraries and big TVs”  so I better explain the contradiction.

See, I have BOTH a big library and a big TV. What matters is not what you have, but what you do with it. My point:

“The Difference Between Who YOU ARE And Who YOU WANT TO BE Is What YOU DO”

I say the size of the library and the size of the TV doesn’t really matter unless you put them to good use. Results come with IMPLEMENTATION… and you and I are no-nonsense entrepreneurs who want more results!

So here’s the deal: we must STOP buying info products and START making info products… we must STOP talking about it and START being about it. This is where a mentor is helpful because a mentor will help you find a balance.

Elayna Fernandez and mentor Jay Conrad Levinson (Father of Guerrilla Marketing)

I am passionate about BALANCE because I know I will never stop being a book worm. I am a nerdy life-long learner and I’m fine with that. I love information… and I love it more when you add implementation… because you find balance and you get results. You know what I’m going to say next:  Results Don’t Lie!

Today, promise yourself to learn to implement. Don’t get drowned and overwhelmed in new strategies, tactics, and techniques that you won’t practice… Stop buying the blueprints, systems, and success kits that you won’t apply. Focus on what you know and become a DOER.

After all,  “A Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins With a Single Step.”  Let’s get on the path!

You've just pointed out some really great quotes and so many things that absolutely makes so much sense. "“The Difference Between Who YOU ARE And Who YOU WANT TO BE Is What YOU DO”

so true! I think also it's important to figure this out because life is just too short, isn't it?

I used to read a LOT more, and now I am just reading ebooks and PDFs from bloggers!

This is very well said and it also reminds me of this "It is the archer not the bow and arrow" which I interpret as it does not matter how expensive or how large your collection of books you have unless you apply the informations that you have been reading which is I think this is also the content of this post.

We have a big library and a big TV and we're not rich or poor. There's truth in what you're saying. :)

And I do think going against the grain is important if you're looking for big success.

I go in streaks with reading. If I find a book that I am really in to, then I dive in but then when I am finished I back off from reading to balance time to other things.
