Affordable Beauty for Busy Moms

Karinee Mariel - Beauty Consultant - Affordable beauty tips for busy moms

When it comes to beauty, I am beyond clueless. Some people laugh in my face when I say “I’m not that girly”; I guess I am, but not in the made-up, dolled-up sense of the word.

Naturally, to write this post, I required serious help, so I went to one of my favorite beauty consultants, and people, Karinee Mariel, a loving, caring, and super feminine 24 year old, in love with life, lovely hubby and her adorable Yorkie and Maltese mix “baby”, Louie.

Karinee Mariel is passionate about helping others feel confident and beautiful! Here are some tips she generously shared with you positive moms:

Affordable Beauty Tip #1 ~  Looking Trendy On a Mommy Budget

With more trends than seasons to keep up with, the ultimate secret to looking trendy on a budget is choosing the style that suits your personality. In the words of Coco Chanel “Fashion fades, only style remains the same.” You can find sales at your local mall (H&M, Forever21 and Charlotte Russe are good choices)

Affordable Beauty Tip #2 ~ The MOM “Deserted Island” Essentials

  • #1 SUNBLOCK ~ The sun is the number one cause for aging!
  • #2 WATER BOTTLE ~ It’s super important to keep body hydrated.
  • #3 BOOK ~ Reading transports you and refines your inner beauty.

Affordable Beauty Tip #3 ~ Durable Sexy Mommy Nails

Keep your nails clean, trimmed, filed and polished. French manicures, neutral colors and pinks make nails look neat and professional.

Affordable Beauty Tip #4 ~ Flawless Natural Skin

Hydrate your skin! Drinking LOTS of water is a MUST! Any moisturizing body lotion will do the trick. Make it a habit to apply it daily.

Affordable Beauty Tip #5 ~ Sleepless YET Beautiful

Moms are notable to wear dark circles and eye puffiness due to sleepless nights. To bring circulation and reduce fluid retention, cool your used teabags on the freezer and apply them for about 10 to 15 minutes. Other inexpensive techniques are cooling vegetables, particularly cucumbers or raw potato slices.

Affordable Beauty Tip #6 ~ Guilt-less Spa With Kitchen Products

  1. Use olive oil to soften your nail cuticles
  2. Use avocado to bring moisture to your hands and feet.
  3. Use sugar to exfoliate, removing dead skin.
  4. Pour sea salts on your bathtub and take a bath to relax your muscles.
  5. Use the left over avocado from you mani-pedi on your hair (it will make it shine!!)
  6. Light a lavender scented candle
  7. Rub honey and oatmeal on your face for a rejuvenating mask.

Affordable Beauty Tip #7 ~ Top Secret Anti-Aging Solutions

  • If you are not allergic to nuts, finely ground walnuts together with a yogurt base are soft and nourishing to exfoliate.
  • Coarsely ground sea salt or sugar combined with honey is another soothing way to exfoliate. If you have age spots or skin discoloration Chamomile could be added to these exfoliates.
  • To bring elasticity to the skin vitamin E capsules can be opened and applied directly to the skin or as with the Chamomile mix with the scrubs. (This is all for normal skin)
  • For skin with acne, oily or dry herbs such as sage, calendula, and rose oil respectively work well.

Affordable Beauty Tip #8 ~ Smell Yummy, Mommy!

Coco Chanel once said that “a woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future.” Wear light fragrances and fruity scents and body lotions right out of the shower, then spray a bit of perfume on your clothes to make the scent (and the bottle) last long.

Affordable Beauty Tip #9 ~ The Million Dollar Smile

  1. Brush your teeth at least twice a day and don’t forget to brush your tongue.
  2. Use non-alcohol mouthwash as often as possible.
  3. Drinking plenty of water will keep your breath fresh.
  4. To keep your teeth pearly white, use peroxide as a mouthwash for 15-20 minutes daily.
  5. Rub baking soda on your teeth whenever possible.

Affordable Beauty Tip #10 ~ Win The Stretch Mark Battle

Oh boy! Stretch marks are a headache that won’t go away; however, you can lessen their appearance. Since stretch marks are caused by a lack of elasticity on the skin when it stretches out, using hydrating, moisturizing creams to bring elasticity to the skin is the way to go. Try lotions/creams containing caffeine. Red stretch marks are easier to get rid of than white ones. Be persistent every morning and every night!

Awesome Awesome Tips Karinee... And I feel like you Elayna.. Whenever I go shopping with my boyfriend I run everything by him (Not the best idea since he always says I look great in everything) asking if I am too old to be wearing this make up or that accessory. I feel some stuff is too girly for me..lol but he encourages me and tells me to wear whatever the heck I feel like wearing..I am a GIRL and I should own it. And who cares if the high school girls are wearing the same accessory...We have every right to ROCK it too ;)
