Have you had one of those days when you get all that “precious” stuff you’ve been saving for years out of a box, a drawer, or wherever it may reside, to find a new home for them, that usually ends up being the trashcan?
Whew…what a long question!
With my long days staying home with the belly, I have been having a lot of those days. I’m hardly what you would call a “pack-rat” but if a “reader/writer rat” exists, I’m definitely one of those.
I collect articles, ads, cut-out pictures, and anything that inspires me… and I write notes… endless notes… about marketing, motherhood, motivation… and the sea of emotions that runs through me.
And today I found a poem. One I wrote ages ago.
What ages? It’s hard to say… but it’s beautiful to acknowledge and honor each part of our journey…no matter what potholes we may find.
You’re empty
- cold
- dead
- hollow.
If there was ever anything in you it’s all gone now, there’s nothing left.
You hold on to anger and fear and remain
- closed
- locked
- shut.
Cannot open your heart to love. Your shell is as hard as your head. Memories and pain invade you each day.
You think you are protecting yourself but deep down, you setting yourself to be hurt. Let it come inside.
You need emotion. Soak in the feelings, embrace the erosion.
When you allow your heart to unlock its true potential, your life will turn out to be influential. You’ll serve as a model for others to learn that love while its free, has to be earned.
