How I Got Clear About The Moms I Want To Help

I’m partnering with Russell Brunson to share my experience in the 30 Day Traffic Secrets challenge.

I’ve been participating for two weeks and implementing what I’m learning while reading his new book, Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers

As a marketer, I’ve been familiar with Russell Brunson for many years, because he is the CEO of $100M software company ClickFunnels, which many of my clients use.

Russell Brunson is the Best-Selling Author of DotCom Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Growing Your Company Online and Expert Secrets: Find Your Message, Build a Tribe and Change the World. I have to say I don’t love the word “tribe” in this context, but it is a great book!

In following him over the years, I’ve come to admire him because he involves his family in everything he does and he is an excellent trainer and marketer. He has built a following of over a million entrepreneurs, sold hundreds of thousands of copies of his books and popularized the concept of sales funnels.

Reading Traffic Secrets and following along the challenge has been eye-opening. I am going to share all about it, but first I want to encourage you to grab the book and join the challenge, too!

As mom entrepreneurs, we create amazing products or services, but getting our future dream customers to discover we even exist can be quite a challenge.

Sadly, every year, tens of thousands of businesses start and fail because most entrepreneurs don’t understand the art and science of getting consumers to find them.

The mom blog journey

I’ve been a blogger and mom entrepreneur for 15 years now. It’s been such a blessing to work from home running a home based business that allows me to provide for my family, while enjoying the freedom to be present with my daughters and with my own emotions, even as a single mom.

Waiting for people to come to you is not a strategy. But understanding exactly who your dream customer is, discovering where they are congregating, and throwing out hooks that will grab their attention to pull them into your funnels (where you can tell them a story and make them an offer) is the strategy. That’s the big secret. ~ Russell Brunson p. 12

I am extremely passionate about working with moms. It energizes me to teach, guide, and coach them. When I create content for moms and speak in spaces where they gather, I feel that I’m in my element and I am doing what I am meant to be doing.

I love helping busy driven moms break painful patterns, gain clarity, and get focused, so they can stay profitable, become present, and be more positive.

More recently, I have been contemplating creating a community for single moms called the Single Moms Sisterhood, so I decided to put this idea to the test using Traffic Secrets.

As single moms, we have specific struggles that are not truly addressed in general parenting content. I have personally adapted content that I consume to my own circumstances, whether it’s in my college classes, church programs, or self-help and business development training.

I have first-hand experience with the impact that being a single mom has on the whole family, as well, and I’m passionate about addressing issues that have to do with raising kids with little to no support, while also running a business and healing wounds and trauma.

The Traffic Secrets Challenge

The Traffic Secrets challenge has helped me realize that having become a single mom twice has given me experience that can specifically make an impact in other single moms’ lives.

In Traffic Secrets, Russell Brunson explains that everyone has 3 core desires. I was surprised to find out that the moms I want to serve are focused on relationships.

The reason this was shocking to me is that moms usually hire me to help them become digital entrepreneurs, start a blog, craft their brand, write their book, and teach online courses. They are usually looking to build a business, run a business, or grow their business.

In digging through my own personal story, I realized that, in the end, the ultimate desire these moms all have is that they want to spend more meaningful time with their kids, to be a more present and engaged mom, a positive mom

The moms I want to help are:

Successful in the traditional sense, but not satisfied with their quality of life.

They’re already making money but they feel like something is missing.

They work so hard that their health and relationships are suffering.

Feeling stuck in their business, craving a new direction.

Thinking “I’m stressed out, I don’t get enough sleep, and my self care is non-existent.”

Feeling too busy, burned out, fatigued, overwhelmed, overworked, unable to do what fuels them, unable to connect with their kids in the way they wish to.

Wondering why they just keep sabotaging themselves, for no apparent reason.

Feeling torn between being profitable and being present.

Feeling like they’ve lost direction in life, have strayed from their path in their career and relationships, and they are not living a happy or fulfilled life.

Looking for tools, exercises and strategies to guide them and encourage them to find purpose, and put meaning and freedom into their lives.

Realizing they have untapped potential and they want to start living a life they love.

Noticing that all they do is work, and there’s no time for doing what they love.

Grieved by much suffering, inner chaos, and confusion, but don’t think they have the time to address them.

Guilting themselves because they do not feel like they are spending meaningful time with their children.

Exhausted, overwhelmed, and burned out, but they wouldn’t feel right if they took a break.

These moms need to know in which direction to go, what their focus should be, and how to create the results they want to see in their life – figuring out their calling, their purpose, what will give them meaning.

What excites me about working with these moms is taking them on an epic journey of self-discovery so they can find out how to design a life they love, without guilt, regret, or endless struggle.

I have been teaching these principles for many years, practicing them, and raising my kids to live these principles.

I was chatting with a friend last week about how now that my oldest daughters are becoming young adults, I am feeling more of a desire to share what I’ve learned, and that being a mom of two little ones allows me to keep it current, as I’m experiencing it all over again with a new perspective.

The moms I want to help are looking for:

A step-by-step plan of action to create more passion, more purpose, and more positivity in their family.

Identify projects that will help them generate predictable, sustainable, scalable income.

Minimize risks for their families because they know the struggles of financial strain.

Have the joy, fulfillment, and satisfaction that comes with time and money freedom.

Be fully present, patient, and positive in their motherhood experience.

Rediscover their personal joy while rediscovering the joy in motherhood.

Feel certain they’re on the right path and they are doing the work they are meant to do and being paid abundantly to do it.

Achieve a sense of personal purpose, joy in motherhood, and meaningful healing.

Enjoy peace and healing so they can be more present with the kids and break cycles of poverty, abuse, and addiction. They have deep wounds from childhood and they want something different for their kids.

To be present moms, not neglectful moms.

To enjoy a meaningful motherhood experience without sacrificing their lifestyle.

They love their children and they want to love themselves.

These moms are ambitious and they want to give their children an abundant lifestyle, and they feel like they would have to give that up or put their family in financial risk in order to be present with their kids.

These moms have more than likely experienced poverty growing up and don’t want to expose their children to this trauma. These single moms have tried Church, personal development books, and maybe therapy.

So even though monetizing is definitely a goal for the moms I want to help, and enjoying vibrant health would be an incredible bonus, their biggest pain is they don’t feel at peace with themselves or with how they are showing up in their relationships.

But here’s the crazy part. By following along the Traffic Secrets exercises, I’ve realized that although eventually, I would love to have a worldwide community of single moms, I won’t be changing my blog focus, but rather start with a Facebook group (you can join here if you’re a single mom!).

I know the pain of being a busy driven mom is even more intense when you are a single mom and don’t have a supportive partner, are doing everything on your own, have an ex-husband that sabotages the efforts you’re making, and when you are the main or only provider for your family.

What I loved about Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers is that it can help you get clear on who you want to serve, just like I’m clear on the moms I want to help, and what I want to help them with.

Mindset for Moms

After all my years working with moms in building, running, and growing a profitable and fulfilling home based business, I know that even when they have all the support, strategies, and success principles available, and they use every tip, tool, and technique, nothing will change unless they change. It’s all about that mom mindset!

The moms are very open to or already committed to changing their inner game, because they know that mindset matters. They are willing and able to invest, ready to envision new results, to take the necessary steps, and trust the process.

This week in the Traffic Secrets 30 Day Challenge, I am following Russell Brunson’s advice to “become obsessed with my dream customer,” showing up where they are gathering, working on improving my hook, story, and offer, so the moms I want to help can actually find me.

I am confident that my personal story, my motherhood experiences, and my business expertise, have positioned me to help them in such a time as this. God is calling me and qualifying me, and I must go and do! I’ll keep you posted.
