The Joy of Thanksgiving

In Spanish, Thanksgiving Day is translated “Dia De Accion De Gracias,” which literally means “the day of action of thanks.” While pondering upon the non-literal translation a while ago, I stumbled upon a powerful truth that reveals a fundamental difference between GRATITUDE and THANKSGIVING.

Gratitude is a feeling… an attitude; thanksgiving is an action.

That is why, even though I didn’t grow up celebrating this Holiday, I love there’s a day in the U.S. to celebrate and express our thankfulness with actions.

In our family, we pray often and also have a daily gratitude practice, and I deeply believe that it is one of the main ingredients that make up our family joy.

Gratitude is one of the most powerful forces in the universe – it is where positivity comes from!

I love the collective energy and spirit felt as more and more people seek for things, peoples, places, and experiences they can feel grateful for, and take the time, effort, and resources to voice, express, and let it show.

Thanksgiving is a discipline. It takes time, it takes effort, it takes resources. And it’s well worth the investment.

So here I am, pouring my gratitude with every key stroke to let you know that your encouragement and support keeps speaking, writing, and creating, which are some of my top passions. Thank you for listening and conversing with me through this journey.

As we have a turkey-less Thanksgiving day, filled with family activities that make us happy, I feel honored to take few minutes to express my deep gratitude to you, my reader, my subscriber, my friend.
As you celebrate today, it is my prayer that you say NO to perfection, comparison, and self-criticism, and that you say YES to looking up, around, and within to discover the beauty that is there…

when you say YES to something, you are always saying NO to something else

May your everyday be filled with joy, love, and a deep sense of gratitude for so much you’ve been blessed with. May God bless you with even more!

Thank you for allowing me to experience the joy of Thanksgiving!
