Storm Boy DVD Giveaway

Giveaway disclosure

I’m so excited to host a giveaway to help you win a DVD copy of Storm Boy, a beautiful, contemporary retelling of Colin Thielle’s beloved novella of the same name, directed by Shawn Seet and starring Geoffrey Rush, Jai Courtney, Finn Little, David Gulpilil, Erik Thomson and Morgana Davies.

Storm Boy fatherhood

My daughters and I really loved this movie and I must admit we all cried a lot watching it. It is a very touching film for the whole family.

There were many quotes and positive lessons that resonated with me during the movie and I want to share them with you for a bit of inspiration:

“Tomorrow – it’s important.”

“You’re just like everyone else – gut-less.”

“Believe in things!”

“He’s the smallest and the weakest, but he doesn’t die.”

“Sometimes you forget the best things you ever learned.”

“Sometimes you’ve got to do what you know is right, even if they’re going to hate you for it.”

“Talking to the land – paying my respects.”

Everyone has issues with their parents.

Telling stories to your children is important.

It’s not right to isolate your kids from the world.

Children will be kind and sweet if we lead by example and teach them.

Child-like faith is magical.

Wild things need to be free.

If you look over them, they’ll look after you.

Children are born unbiased to color/race/anything else.

Letting go of things is never easy, change is hard.

Saying goodbye is difficult.

Making a decision in anger will lead to mistakes.

There’s no future in being angry.

Storm Boy scene

Michael ‘Storm Boy’ Kingley (Geoffrey Rush) has grown up to be a successful retired businessman and grandfather. When Kingley starts to see images from his past that he can’t explain, he is forced to remember his long-forgotten childhood, growing up on an isolated coastline with his father (Jai Courtney).

He recounts to his granddaughter the story of how, as a boy (Finn Little), he rescued and raised an extraordinary orphaned pelican, Mr.Percival (along with Mr. Proud and Mr. Ponder), Their remarkable adventures and very special bond has a profound effect on all their lives.

Based on the beloved book, Storm Boy is a timeless story of an unusual and unconditional friendship.
