The Cast of KPop Demon Hunters

Set in the world of Korean Pop bands, this animated musical features many elements of Korean folklore, history, and culture throughout its storyline- from the Korean pop catchy tunes to the fashion, the food, the bath houses, traditional Korean instruments, and the mythological creatures. So it’s only natural that KPop Demon Hunters characters are all Korean and voiced by Korean actors and actresses.

  • May Hong voices Mira, the main dancer of HUNTR/X. She had a wealthy upbringing, and fans say she’s considered “the black sheep of her family.”
  • Ji-young Yoo voices Zoey, the main rapper and lyricist of HUNTR/X. She’s Korean American and was raised in Burbank and is the maknae of the band (youngest member).

  • Ken Jeong voices Bobby, manager and agent of Huntr/x.

    • Newscaster

The KPop Demon Hunters Soundtrack

The main characters in KPop Demon Hunters: Rumi, Mira, and Zoey, are talented triple threats: singer-dancer-songwriters, and members of the animated band HUNTR/X, and are now the first female K-pop group in history to ever have a #1 single on Spotify with their single Golden.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – AUGUST 23: (L-R) Arden Cho and Kevin Woo hop on the KPop Demon Hunters-Sing Along Experience at Paris Theater on August 23, 2025 in New York City. (Photo by Roy Rochlin/Getty Images for Netflix)

Their nemesis band, Saja Boys, surpassed BTS and was the highest K-pop boy band on Spotify for any single until HUNTR/X dethroned them. These are fictional bands created for the movie, topping the charts and predicted to win awards. In fact, Kpop Demon Hunters is the first soundtrack to land four songs in the top 10 at the same time.

The song lyrics, which are sung in a mix of English and Korean, perfectly reflect the movie plot and the characters’ emotions.

Except for Baby Saja (Danny Chung), the singing KPop Demon Hunters performances are brought to life by different voice actors:

  • Ejae provides Rumi’s singing voice.
  • Rei Ami provides Zoey’s singing voice.
  • Audrey Nuna provides Mira’s singing voice.
  • Andrew Choi provides Jinu’s singing voice.
  • Kevin Woo provides Mystery Saja’s singing voice.
  • Neckwav provides Abby Saja’s singing voice.
  • Samuil Lee provides Romance Saja’s singing voice.
  • Lea Salonga provides Celine’s singing voice.

If you haven’t yet experienced the magic of songs like “Free,” “Golden,” “Soda Pop,” “Takedown,” “How It’s Done,” “What It Sounds Like,” or “Your Idol,” beware. The fun, original, upbeat K-pop songs are topping Billboard and music streaming charts, and fans of all ages broke box office records as they came together to attend the sing-along events in theaters.

The songs are addictive, and you will have them stuck in your mind and on repeat all day, the entire year. Watch the sing-along version on Netflix and get ready to get under the Saja Boys’ spell and become part of the HUNTR/X hive!

Is KPop Demon Hunters Appropriate for Kids?

Since its June 2025 debut, KPop Demon Hunters has been delighting viewers of all ages; however, the film is considered a family movie because it is rated PG (Parental Guidance Suggested), which is accurate, due to some of its themes. The movie is listed in the Kids category when browsing Netflix, but of course, we know that maturity level depends on so much more than age.

I did watch this film with my 12 and 5-year-old daughters and had some great talks about the real issues the characters are dealing with.

Amidst the special effects, songs of courage, and secret identities, there are intense moments you’ll want to walk your children through after.

Violence?

With the main plot involving the protagonists fighting demons, you can expect mildly scary-looking, menacing creatures and some animated violence in the fight scenes. The fierce females use light-saber-like Korean-history-inspired weapons against these demons while the demons charge at them to retrieve their souls. Thankfully, there’s no blood and gore and there’s nothing really graphic, because the demons disappear into thin air when defeated. When demons attack, they suck up people’s souls and “disappear” them, which can be very unsettling.

Besides the fist and swordfights, war and death are the main themes throughout the movie, and there is an emotional visit to a grave, so keep this in mind if your child is sensitive to these topics.

Mature themes?

Yes, there is some light silliness sprinkled throughout, but as trauma survivors, the dark side of the movie will be really relatable in ways that even other adults won’t pick up – nervous breakdown, mental struggles, the weight of societal expectations, and the struggle with identity, just to name a few.

Something that I haven’t seen anyone talk about is that while I love the bold girl power in the film, it might be misinterpreted as a female vs male confrontation by impressionable minds. The main female characters are trained from an early age to vanquish evil demons, and there’s nothing wrong with that!

There are no drugs, no drinking, and no smoking in KPop Demon Hunters. There is also no sex and no explicit nudity. Yay!

As far as suggestiveness, there is one scene in the bathhouse where it is implied that the demon-slaying heroines are nude in the hot tub because you can see their bare shoulders above the water.

There is a romantic ballad sung by a female and a male character who are flirting and falling in love (I pulled a few movie quotes from this one). There is definitely some heavy swooning over the Saja Boys’ looks (the rival boy band), one involving a band member’s six-pack abs.

Language?

As far as language, some words you might not appreciate are: “idiots,” “stupid jerks,” “jeez,” “suck,” “butt,” and “hot” in reference to a person.

With regard to consumerism, it portrays the K-pop music fans as vulnerable because they are willing to do anything for their favorite K-pop band. It’s more of a warning than an encouragement.

Positive and Powerful Quotes and Lessons from KPop Demon Hunters

Because of its genius dialogue and brilliant song lyrics, there are a lot of memorable and funny quotes in K-pop Demon Hunters. I’m sharing a collection of the best quotes with a positive message only in this list.

Here are my favorite KPop Demon Hunter quotes that reflect the most emotionally charged moments and inspire emotional intelligence:

“Born with voices that could drive back the darkness.” ~ Celine

When we use our voices for good, spreading kindness to ourselves and others, we spread the light of healing and love.

“They’re taking a break after this concert, and they totally need it, but we’re gonna miss them so much!” ~ Fan

The people who truly love us have our best interests at heart. Full stop.

“I lived two lives, tried to play both sides, but I couldn’t find my own place.” ~ “Golden,” HUNTR/X

When we try to fit in everywhere, we don’t belong anywhere. Did I just say that? Whoa.

“Music ignites the soul and brings people together.” ~ Celine

The KPop Demon Hunters soundtrack proves this point in both directions. The movie proves the power behind the music we listen to and how it can have either a positive or negative effect. Neuroscience actually shows that our brain gravitates to song to create emotional states that we crave.

“Yeah, I need like 10,000 calories to get through the choreo.” ~ Rumi

A great reminder that we need food as fuel. KPop Demon Hunters Director and writer Maggie Kang shared in an interview with The New York Times: “I wanted to see female superheroes that were a lot more relatable, who like to eat and make silly faces.”

“I don’t talk, I bite! Full of venom!” ~ “How It’s Done,” HUNTR/X

Words – our own or others’- can be poisonous – they can be used to hurt, destroy, and kill.

“We got the hottest ticket in town. To our couch!” ~ Zoey and Mira

There’s so much to do and so little time, especially when you’re Korean pop stars trained from a young age to fight against evil entities. But rest is essential, and this outlook is healthy.

“Sounds super boring. I’m so down.” ~ Mira

I’m with Mira here. Not everything has to be exciting, and it’s imperative to slow down and do what is good for our souls.

“I didn’t know how to believe I was the queen that I’m meant to be.” ~ “Golden,” HUNTR/X

We are daughters of The King – and yet believing in this true nature and identity is a skill not many of us learn.

“No more hiding, I’ll be shining, like I’m born to be.” ~  “Golden,” HUNTR/X

We are not meant to hide; we are meant to shine our light in the world and be our true selves. Periodt.

“I do have one idea… Actually, 57, but let’s start with my favorite.” ~ Zoey

Please tell me if you can relate because I felt seen.

“Walls? I don’t have walls.” ~ Rumi

Yep. When we have walls, we usually don’t know we have them, and it’s impossible to admit something we don’t know, even when it’s obvious to everyone else.

“Focus is good, but focusing on one part leads to ignoring other parts, making you separated, isolated.” ~ Healer Han

Two words: Holistic. Healing. That is all.

“She’s also a workaholic, doesn’t know how to relax.” ~ Mira

Workaholism, like many of the isms, is a trauma response. Rumi is trying to prove her worth and belonging by working too much. Sound familiar?

“I’m sorry. I’ve been glued to this tiny screen for hours.” ~ Bobby

We can all relate to Bobby. Putting the phone down to be present is a good goal – yes, I’m talking to myself too!

“So sweet, so easy on the eyes, but hideous on the inside.” ~ “Takedown,” (AKA The Diss TrackHUNTR/X

This quote is not only about physical attractiveness. It reminds us that that which looks appealing can lead to destruction and demise. A demon’s a demon, no matter how enticing it might look.

“Maybe listen to those voices instead of the ones in your head.” ~ Rumi

The voices in our heads can be damaging. We shouldn’t believe everything we think. However, when we have people who see us for who we are and see our worth, we can focus on listening to them instead.

“It’s just social media numbers. Not the end of the world.” ~ Bobby

He’s trying to reassure himself because the numbers are part of his job. As a content creator for over 20 years, I know there are moments in which those insights and analytics can seem like the most important thing in the world. But they’re not. We must stay focused on the bigger picture and remind ourselves of what matters most.

“Excuse me? I’m everyone’s type.” ~ Rumi

I’m a Rumi fangirl because she hides her insecurity with comments of false confidence. In Spanish, we have a saying, “Dime de qué presumes y te diré de qué careces,” which means “tell me what you brag about and I’ll tell you what you’re missing.” It’s so fitting here!

“That’s the funny thing about hope. Nobody else gets to decide if you feel it. That choice belongs to you.” ~ Rumi

Mic drop. Boom. Pow.

“I tried to hide, but something broke. I tried to sing, couldn’t hit the notes. The words kept catching in my throat.” ~ “Free,” Rumi

We cannot unleash our true potential unless we stop pretending to be someone or something we are not. As I like to say, “if you fake it, you really won’t make it.”

“Look, I’m kind of a difficult person. Overly blunt, short-fused, highly aggressive. My whole life, those things were a liability. But somehow, with you guys, they’re okay.” ~ Mira

This is called self-awareness, self-acceptance, and choosing the right people around you as you work through your issues. Mira is a great role model in this line.

“You say you’re no good, but you’re good for me.” ~ “Free,” Rumi

We usually don’t give ourselves credit or focus on our flaws and shortcomings, failing to see the good in ourselves. We do not need to be perfect; we just need to be kind to make a difference in someone’s whole world.

“Our faults and fears must never be seen.” ~ Celine

Yeaaaahhh, this is not a positive quote, but pointing that out is the positive part here. Vulnerability requires safety, but it is necessary for healing.

“What if we both tried fighting what we’re running from?” ~ “Free,” Rumi

Running is a trauma response, but so is fighting. Ever heard of fight or flight? (Yes, there’s also freeze and fawn, too). However, being present with our trauma responses and asking “what if” questions in the spirit of curiosity can help us get on a path to finding healthier coping mechanisms.

“I felt like my thoughts and my lyrics and all my notebooks were just useless and weird. But with the two of you, they mean something. I mean something.” ~ Zoey

When we have the right friends, we find belonging and meaning.

“We could all be strong. Be together.” ~ Rumi

Strength is found as we unite as one. It is not about an individual “chosen one,” but a group of voices coming together in the name of love.

“You gave me your heart, now I’m here for your soul.” ~ “Your Idol,” Saja Boys

The evil forces around us lure us with distractions so that we surrender our souls: our moral and spiritual codes. The Saja Boys were turned into “demons” because of their shame.

“No. No more hiding. No more lies!” ~ Rumi

The truth really does set us free.

“I’m the only one who’ll love your sins!” ~ “Your Idol,” Saja Boys

People who truly care about us will call us out on “our sins” – anything that goes against our true nature and true potential.

“We are hunters, voices strong.” ~ Rumi

Knowing our identity and purpose strengthens us and our voice.

“I broke into a million pieces, and I can’t go back, but now I’m seeing all the beauty in the broken glass.” ~ “What It Sounds Like,” HUNTR/X

We are both broken and beautiful. Full stop.

“So we were cowards. So we were liars. So we’re not heroes. We’re still survivors!” ~ “What It Sounds Like,” HUNTR/X

Being a survivor is already a big deal. You are imperfect and worthy.

“I’m so happy you didn’t, like, die.” ~ Zoey

Everyone expresses care and concern in their own unique way. 🙂

“Heels, nails, blade, mascara. Fit check for my Napalm Era.” ~ “How It’s Done,” HUNTR/X

A hymn of getting ready for war, but also a metaphor for being done with oppression and embracing self-expression.

“You’re all I can think of, every drop I drink up. You’re my soda pop. My little soda pop.” ~ “Soda Pop,” Saja Boys

Flattery and charm are some of the most powerful weapons to seduce us toward the wrong path. Don’t fall for it.

“To treat the part, you must understand the whole.” ~ Healer Han

Oh yes! That’s some unusual spiritual and emotional advice straight from a doctor’s office.

“How am I supposed to fix the world, fix me, when I don’t have my voice?” ~ Rumi

We need our voices to make an impact; however, we are not here to be fixed, and we are not able to fix the world. This is shame-based delusional thinking – one of the two lies that sabotage our destiny.

“The world will know you as pop stars, but you will be much more than that. You will be hunters.” ~ Celine

We are usually more than the world knows about our true identity, so it’s a mistake to let others define us when they don’t have the full picture or have incomplete information.

“I let you keep that voice.” ~ Gwi-Ma

The demons – or defeating destructive voices in our head might try to manipulate us into thinking we have something to lose if we don’t comply to their demands, but everything that is good or valuable comes from the Divine.

“It is your voice, your song.” ~ Celine

What we come to earth to express is uniquely ours. We have so much value to offer life, ourselves, and others.

“I wanted to set you free.” ~  Rumi

We are not able to set anyone free by saving them, but we might inspire their freedom by loving them.

“You gave me my soul back. And now, I give it to you.” ~  Jinu

True love is reciprocal and, through reciprocity, everyone wins.

“Mirror mirror on my phone, who’s the baddest? Us, hello!” ~ “How It’s Done,” HUNTR/X

I love me some positive affirmations, but beware of superlatives – it is not a competition.

“Why couldn’t you love me?” “ALL OF ME!” ~ Rumi

This is one where we all fall short and experienced others falling short. The deepest work in this world is to love others and ourselves just as they are. But do remember – we cannot love others fully when they’re hiding parts of who they are.

“Not everything is about your insecurities, Mira!” ~ Rumi

KPop Demon Hunters Director and writer Maggie Kang shared this about Rumi, Zoey, and Mira: “They had very real insecurities and showed that.” We all have insecurities and we tend to become obsessed with them and believe that everyone else around us is obsessed with them, too.

“I’m not here to mock you. I’m here to help you.” ~ Jinu

Trust and intimacy can be so hard for trauma survivors, so it is such a kindness when someone reassures us of their loving intentions.

“The memories. I want them erased.” ~ Jinu

One of the ways in which survivors get tempted into unhealthy mechanisms is trying to erase the memories that induce guilt and shame.

“You left them… Left them behind. Failed them. These are a constant reminder of my shame. A shame I can never escape.” ~ Jinu

Even though it seems inescapable, love makes it possible to shed the same and to heal the pain.

“If there’s no hope for you, what hope is there for me?” ~ Rumi

Byron Katie said “When we compare, we die.” Enough said.

“For what it’s worth, I don’t think you’re a mistake.” ~ Jinu

Ohhh – Hearing this is worth A LOT. See if you can find someone to send it to.

“Why does it feel right every time I let you in? Why does it feel like I can tell you anything?” ~ “Free,” Jinu / Rumi

I always say “safe people save people.” Yes, I know I already say we shouldn’t *try* to save someone, but when they feel safe around us, it can be life-saving.

“We can’t fix it if we never face it.” ~ “Free,” Jinu / Rumi

This feels like it was straight out of my TEDx talk. We can only process our pain when we face it.

“Nothing can change until your patterns are gone.” ~ Celine

NOT TRUE, Celine! It’s called progress. We don’t have to be perfect in order to see positive growth.

“Hope only hurts so I just forget it.” “Free,” Jinu

This is so relatable. This is where dispair comes from. That’s why words of validation are better than words of encouragement when someone is in deep pain.

“Goo goo ga ga.” ~ Baby Saja

Deepest quote ever. LOL. But in all seriousness, if you hear Baby Saja singing in the Soundtrack, you will see infantilization at its best.

“All those fears, it’s the Demon talking. But tomorrow, we can win this war.” ~ Rumi

Our fears don’t come from God. Faith and belief can help us conquer it all. That-is-all.

“Fix the world and make it right. When darkness finally meets the light.” ~ Young Rumi

It is only our light that will conquer the darkness.

“Your voices cannot defeat me!” – Gwi-Ma

It is our voices of truth, light, and love that will defeat the negative self-talk and demonic voices in our head.

“Eagerness to please. Maybe too eager.” ~ Healer Han

People-pleasing is a trauma response. Kindness is not niceness and meekness is not weakness.

“If hate could defeat Gwi-Ma, I would have… a long time ago.” ~ Jinu

Just like Martin Luther King, Jr. said – hate cannot defeat hate and darkness cannot drive out darkness. Only love and light can overcome evil.

“I don’t hear his voice!” ~ Jinu

Love can block our debilitating voices and thoughts.

“We can cover those up and put everything together again.” ~ Celine

Celine and her little lies! Covering up parts of who we are doesn’t build, it destroys.

“Ready to forget it all?” ~ Gwi-Ma

Forgetting is not the answer. It is self-forgiveness and self-acceptance that can bring freedom and peace.

“The scars are part of me, darkness and harmony.” ~ “What It Sounds Like,” HUNTR/X

We are complex beings with light and shadow parts that make up who we are.

“If this is the honmoon I’m supposed to protect, I’m glad to see it destroyed.” ~ Rumi

This was a savage line, delivered with boldness and truth to power.

“Knocking you out like a lullaby!” ~ “How It’s Done,” HUNTR/X

Even though this is sung by our demon hunters, it relates to being asleep, which is when you’re most vulnerable – for others’ attacks or for demos “stealing your souls.”

“Makin’ fear afraid to breathe.” ~ “How It’s Done,” HUNTR/X

Love frightens fear. Whoa!

“Look at me!!!” ~ Rumi

It takes so courage to demand to be seen when others do not accept you.

“Fearless and undefined.” ~ “What It Sounds Like,” HUNTR/X

There is so much power in releasing the labels others have put on you and embracing your true identity.

“Why did I try to cover up the colors stuck inside my head?” “What It Sounds Like,” HUNTR/X

We’re often told we are too much, and we hide our true colors – but they’re what make us powerful.

”Thank you for the pain, ‘cause it got me going viral.” ~ “Your Idol,” Saja Boys

Our pain does not make us powerful – it is our light, our love, and our courage that does.

“The Honmoon is gone.” “It is. So we can make a new one.” ~ Gwi-Ma/Rumi

Sometimes we need to let go of what we know and cherish to build something new, with a foundation of love and light.

“And send those disgusting demons back to the depths where they belong.” ~ Mira

If you read the New Testament of the Bible, casting demons away was a very prominent part of His ministry. As we continue to defy the negative voices in our heads with truth, we can become free.

“I love my girls” ~ Bobby, A.K.A. the greatest manager ever!

Awesome men support women.

“What if we find a way to escape it?”

Escaping is a trauma response. Of course, you knew that.

“Called a problem child, ’cause I got too wild, but now that’s how I’m getting paid.” ~ “Golden,” HUNTR/X

Yeah, she said that. That’s all I gotta say.

“Your secret’s safe with me :)” ~ Fan

I added this one here because it sounds good in theory, but imho secrets are NOT ever safe.

“I was suffocating though / But here with you, I can finally breathe.” ~ “Free,” Rumi/Jinu

Being able to be yourself around someone is the best proof that they’re meant to be your friend.

“Control them shoulders.” ~ Mira

There’s a healthy balance between self-restraint and self-expression – It’s called authenticity!

“My dad was a demon.” ~ Rumi

Demonize parents much? When we hate where we come from, we hate ourselves.

“I’m preaching to the choir, can I get the mic a little higher?” ~ “Your Idol,” Saja Boys

Epic line. Assuming agreement has to be a manipulation tactic. Thoughts? Louder for the people in the back.

“You know I’m always on your side, but it’s really hard to understand this time…” ~ Zoey

Being a friend is not about understanding another person; it’s about being there even when you don’t.

“Let the past be the past ’til it’s weightless.” ~ “Free,” Jinu/Rumi

We have the power to not let the past be part of our present or carried into our future.

“Hear the way my voice gets underneath your skin.” ~ “Your Idol,” Saja Boys

When victims are trafficked, groomed, or manipulated into believing propaganda or joining gangs, cults, or extremist groups, it’s because someone got under their skin, tearing down their self-esteem and warping their sense of self.

“Between impostor and this monster, I’ve been lost inside my head.” ~ “Free,” Jinu/Rumi

The negative voices in our head often tell us either that we don’t deserve our success or that we are a failure and a horrible person. Those are lies that keep us inside our heads and stuck, so that we don’t live our purpose and don’t live up to our full potential.
