Celebrating Innovation With Chevrolet At The State Fair Of Texas

Chevrolet - Chevy disclosure

HOWDY FOLKS!
I can’t believe it’s been so long since I moved to Texas. Everything changed that year. We started homeschooling, I changed my business model, and I decided to try the “being a couple” thing again.

Moving to Texas was a bit of a culture shock, too, which I didn’t think could happen within the same country, but then I figured out it’s normal within the USA. And so began new adventures in a new place we called home.

One of our annual traditions is to go to the State Fair of Texas. It’s a giant event that celebrates all things Texas and  this year’s theme was Celebrating Texas Innovation.

The State Fair of Texas delivers groundbreaking inventions, technological advancements, and scientific milestones, and it promotes  agriculture, education, and community involvement through quality entertainment in a family-friendly environment.

We were so grateful that Chevrolet sent us tickets to the State Fair of Texas so we could enjoy it together again this year.

We were also blessed to drive the all-new 2019 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 to the State Fair of Texas and around town.

It was my first time driving a truck and I admit I was a bit intimidated at first, but I ended up loving it a little too much!

Chevrolet always has a big presence in the State Fair of Texas. The concert series on the Chevrolet Main Stage is one of the best values of the State Fair of Texas because it is totally FREE with the price of admission.

This year, LUDACRIS, MORRIS DAY AND THE TIME, HUNTER HAYES, and CASTING CROWNS drew the largest crowds.

This year, Chevrolet introduced a stylized 2019 Silverado High Country at Texas Auto Show Media Day, highlighting Chevrolet’s collection of truck accessories and performance parts for the all-new Silverado.

The catalog of genuine performance parts and accessories were designed and developed along with the new truck for seamless design and performance integration.

We got to test drive some of the latest Chevy vehicles and even got a Día de los Muertos t-shirt as a gift. That was a lot of fun!

Getting a picture of Big Tex was in order, especially with one that is about my size. Big Tex is a Big Deal.

Big Tex, the world’s tallest cowboy, has been the official greeter and icon of the State Fair of Texas for 65 years.

The State Fair of Texas is always packed with fun and people. This year, there were more than 2 million fairgoers through the gates from all all 50 United States of America and 183 of 195 countries from around the world represented.

There are always so many activities and attractions that you cannot do them all in one day!

My two older daughters really enjoy going on all the rides they can, especially the Ferris Wheel, and it was awesome that Eliana could go on a few rides, too! She loved riding in a miniature tractor.

There is also a lot of food and it’s all Texas sized. We have made it a point to always get the curly fries!

No, there aren’t a lot of vegan options – it’s Texas! – but there are some, and they are delicious.

And with a house filled with photogenic beauties, we take advantage of all the photo opps. My daughters love being creative and showing off their smiles and that makes mami really happy!

More than 64,000 kids enjoyed the farm-to-market activity, Little Hands on the Farm, at the all-new Home on the Range exhibit inside the Coliseum this year.

It was very nostalgic for me because Elisha and Elyssa used to do this together and this year they were “too old” to do it. They did enjoy helping their little sister along, but I was all in tears, if you know what I mean.

It was such a fun day out with my family. The weather was perfect and riding the Chevy Silverado was fun!

The 2019 Chevy Silverado is up to 450 pounds (204 kg) lighter than the previous model and has an autotrac automatic four-wheel drive system available. Let’s go through some features we loved.

My favorite features on the all new CHEVY SILVERADO:

  • Capless fuel fill
  • Chevrolet Infotainment system with an 8-inch-diagonal color touchscreen including multi-touch display, and embedded navigation, system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone projection compatibility, advanced voice recognition, in-vehicle apps and personalized profiles

  • 4G LTE  WiFi Hotspot connectivity (includes one-month/3GB data trial)
  • Available remote vehicle starter system
  • Heated and vented perforated leather-appointed front bucket seats and heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Keyless open and push-button start
  • Heated and ventilated leather-trimmed front bucket seats and heated rear outboard seats
  • Standard Teen Driver feature

My favorite Safety Features on the 2019 CHEVY SILVERADO:

Safety is most important for me, not only because I’m transporting precious cargo, but also because of my history with cars. The safety features on the 2019 CHEVY SILVERADO are quite impressive!

  • Airbags: dual-stage frontal for driver and front passenger; seat-mounted side-impact for driver and front outboard passenge; and head-curtain side-impact for front and rear outboard seating positions; includes Passenger Sensing System**
  • Standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control with rollover mitigation technology, trailer sway control and hill-start assist

  • Standard Rear Vision Camera* (HD Rear Vision Camera* available on certain models)
  • HD Surround Vision* available
  • Safety Package is available on LT, RST, LT Trail Boss and LTZ; content is standard on High Country. Content includes Front and Rear Park Assist*, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert* and Rear Cross Traffic Alert*
  • Safety Package II is available on LTZ and High Country. Content includes: Forward Collision Alert*, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning*, Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking*, IntelliBeam automatic headlamp control, Following Distance Indicator* and Safety Alert Seat*

Thank you Chevrolet for helping us go celebrate all things Texan during the 2018 State Fair of Texas. We look forward to the 2019 State Fair (from Friday, September 27 through Sunday, October 20 in Fair Park) and hope we can ride a new Chevy Truck – they are amazing!

The Texas State Fair looks like so much fun. I actually lived in Texas a couple of years and somehow never heard of this. Maybe it was the area I lived in. I was happy though because the part of Texas I lived in had lots of Vegan food options much to my surprise!
