How To Become More Positive Through Your Diet

What we eat is important. It can impact who we are: what we think and what we do, how we look and how we feel.

I have observed over the years how what I eat affects my mental health and I have been more cautious and conscious about what I choose to eat.

Most people I’ve been around seemed more miserable and less productive when they were on a diet, and that’s probably why I had never followed one.

People everywhere subject themselves to lives of starvation dieting and exercising hell, and none of it is working. They crave food, walk around hungry all day, and miss out on one of life’s great pleasures—eating good food. And when they fail, as most dieters will, they feel guilty and full of self-hatred. But they haven’t failed. Those diets have failed them.” ~ Joel Marion

I’m glad I found a diet that is based on scientific research and that doesn’t require me to deprive myself of foods that I enjoy and works with my lifestyle and schedule.

How To Become More Positive Through Your Diet

I have learned so much reading the Always Eat After 7PM book and I’ve started experimenting with the delicious recipes included in the book.

My top two recipes are the All-Spiced Up Roasted Chickpeas and the No-Bake Salted Caramel Bars recipes, which feature some of my all-time favorite ingredients.

The sample meal plans in Always Eat After 7PM make it easy to save time and money, and to stick to the plan.

However, there is one more thing needed for anything to work in your life and that is… Drum roll……..

You guessed it! A positive attitude!

My grandpa used to say “how you do anything is how you do everything,” so the great news is that by following a diet regime, you can strengthen your ability to achieve everything else!

Always Eat After 7 PM uses intermittent fasting to regulate hormones, so that we can eat less, feel satisfied, and become healthier.

This can be done without too much effort, and while enjoying our favorite meals, so that makes the goal easier to reach.

Eating healthy improves our mood, our focus, and self-confidence. However, there are a few mindset tweaks we must go through before we can be successful in dieting – or any other endeavor:

Forgive Yourself

Sometimes we don’t even start to pursue our goals and dreams because we’ve failed or faltered before.

I like what Joel Marion wrote in his book:

The past is the past; it’s over, and there’s nothing you can do to change it. The only thing you do have control over is the future, and the only moment that is relevant for creating the narrative that you desire for your future is the present moment.

I wholeheartedly agree. I can attest that the self-forgiveness muscle starts to strengthen itself as you exercise it. It’s possible!

Believe in Yourself

Being positive requires belief in yourself. Yes, you can be humble, yes, you can leave room for error, and yes, you can trust the process, but you have to believe you can do it and believe every step of the way.

Deep down in your core, you have to know you will achieve your goals and dreams, and there is no plan B. It may be a little bit harder than you thought, it may take a little bit longer than you’d like, but if you keep going, you know (and you should know) that you will get there.

That’s from the book – and I love it!

Protect Yourself

We can all agree that distractions are everywhere and that safe spaces can often be scarce.

You have to protect your future self and guard your dreams from negative people who will steal your zeal, deflate your ambition, and take the wind out of the sails of your drive to succeed. Your dreams are too important. Don’t open them up to anyone who is less than 100 percent on board with not only your pursuit of them but also your achievement of them.

Take inventory of your past experiences (yes, those you blamed on yourself) and figure out:

who made a snarky comment

who instigated you to get off track

who minimized your effort

who didn’t respect your boundaries

who provided the perfect distraction…

… and what exactly happened each time you thought you failed. Avoid, reject, distance yourself from those situations.

A healthy diet will help you be more positive and being successful in sticking to your diet will require that you forgive yourself, believe in yourself, and protect yourself along the way.
